History: Like most children of a district like One, Fitzwilliam had been raised seeing nothing but the honor and the excitement of the games. His father had been a firm believer in them, despite being a respectable and good-hearted man. It goes to show how jaded one can become over many years of influence, and it's his influence that had Fitzwilliam training from a young age. Being of an imposing height with a strong, broad shouldered body, he was a sure fire tribute in the making. His good looks and his polite and protective nature made him a bit of a darling to those close to him, but he'd always been needlessly taciturn with strangers. Despite having been born and raised to fight for his Districts, Fitzwilliam had never expressed a particular interest in the games. The glory and admiration never appealed to the young man, given that he was closed off to most people. He would train, of course, but he had no intention of volunteering unless he absolutely needed to.

His mother died at an early age leaving his father with himself and his younger sister, Georgiana. Beyond those two, his closest connection was to the son of a family not quite as well to do as the Darcys. George Wickham and Fitzwilliam were close friends and inseparable for the most part, so George often managed to benefit from the privilege of the richer family. Fitzwilliam, of course, thought nothing of this. He loved the other man like a brother and when you are loved by Fitzwilliam, you're pretty much on the protection radar for life.

He was seventeen when his time had finally come. Or really, when Wickham's time had come. The other boy's name had been read out, but Darcy did not hesitate to volunteer in his place. For most, it seemed a little needless. Both of the boys were strong and competent enough, but Darcy couldn't stand to send his most beloved friend off to fight. He'd sooner put himself through it all than see his sister or his friend suffer instead.

Unlike many District One tributes, Darcy didn't have an abundance of charm to benefit him amongst the Capitolites. What he lacked in people skills, he at least managed to make up for in strikingly good looks and the skill of someone who has spent a considerable amount of time training for this day. He'd managed to endear himself to the Capitol somewhat, even more so to his fellow district mate and tribute. She was a great deal more vicious than him, both in scrutinizing other tributes and in her interest in taking them down. Somehow, she'd taken a liking to Darcy and fancied concocting a romance between them, but he turned her down. This effectively ended their alliance before the Arena had even begun, he'd hardly caught sight of her the entire time.

The Arena itself was set in a massive, seemingly beautiful garden, setting tributes down all throughout it might have seemed boring at first, but the game makers had made sure to fix that. The plants themselves were full of thorns from which a single prick could drive a tribute mad. They couldn't be burnt off at all, but instead emitted a dangerous fume when combined with fire. So as to draw tributes closer together and to confuse them, hedges and plants would remove themselves and replace themselves at random, leading many tributes to doubt their memories and grow increasingly frazzled. Tracker Jacker nests were hidden throughout the shrubbery and the Arena was a mess of tributes slowly going mad or quickly descending into insanity. So as not to build a reputation of someone afraid of conflict, Darcy took it upon himself to pick off the most unhinged tributes as he came across them. Throwing knives and a bow and arrow were his weapons of choice, preferring to keep his distance when he made his kills. Doing this eventually lead him back to his District Mate. She'd made a considerable amount of kills herself, but she'd been so unfortunate as to inhale far too much of the mind-destroying fumes from the hedges. It hadn't taken long for Darcy to kill her off out of pity, but the guilt lingered for a long time after.

The last tribute he'd face would be the last remaining tribute in the arena. It had been a game of hide and seek for a long time, hours even. The trees, hedges and flowers changed formation constantly, drawing them closer together and sealing them off from each other in an attempt to infuriate the two of them. The other tribute had tried to drag themselves through a hedge in desperation, so they had managed to seal their own fate in doing so. Darcy had made their death a quick one, preventing them from suffering through the pain it surely would have caused.

Presentation: What's the outside like? Their personality? How do they present themselves to the world? This section, along with motivation, should be the meat and potatoes of your app, with at least 2-3 paragraphs
Motivations: And what's going on on the inside?

Setting: How do you plan for this character to react to the Games setting? We are not looking for specifics, but more of a general idea for how you plan to play your character reacting to repeated, violent events, and their agency being stripped away from them.

SAMPLES
First Person Thread: An example of a first person post, at least 200 words minimum. Feel free to use introspection and scene setting if your character is not chatty. Please use one of the two following prompts:

For Tributes: You have just been killed in your first arena. It was violent, messy, and unexpected. And just as suddenly you wake back up in a very cold, very medical room. After a few moments of silence, a voice comes up over the speakers.

"Please use the device to the right to record your current feeling on your loss. Once you are finished, someone will be along to take you back to the Capitol." On cue, a small recording device starts to chirp at your side.

It is quite clear that you will be staying in the room until you make that recording.

For Capitols OCs and AUs: For Capitols OCs and AUs: Somehow you ended up privy to a private post just gushing about how much they just LOVE the new games, how they think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Then the poster (Your friend? Some random person from a party who decided they wanted to send you their private thoughts? A rival trying to pin you into an uncomfortable spot?) namesdrops you for your opinion on the new format, versus the quaint, old-fashion style of the game.

Everyone on the broadcast is just waiting for your input.

Prose: 200 word minimum. To mimic the spirit of capriciousness within this game, please write your third person sample based on the following prompt:

You have been set in a room in front of the Gamemakers to be judged on a score of one to twelve, with one being the lowest and twelve being the highest. The Gamemakers sit safely behind a force field and watch, and you are provided with an array of weapons and targets, though no gun to be seen.

If you are a new tribute, you have been plucked from home and rushed in here with only a brief explanation of what is going on: You are about to enter an arena death match that only one person will make it out of, and impressing these people will help you live.

If you are someone from Panem, then you are very unlucky. You know what's going on but... you were told all the tributes were from a foreign land now. So why are you in front of the Gamemakers fighting for your life now? Are you a criminal, a traitor, deeply in debt? Or do you even know why you were shoved in to this room?

What is your character scored: When scoring your character take into account their physical strengths and weaknesses, mental strengths and weaknesses, and crowd likability. The score on your app has nothing to do with the gamemakers session in your sample, it is an OOC score for mod purposes and should not be based on how they actually are in front of the Gamemakers. In addition, please list their powers, for arena's that allow powers.

Additional information: Question specifically for certain character types. Feel free to ignore if it does not apply to your character type. Please answer all that do (For example, a past victor AU would answer both their question, and the past victory question)

Past victor: Please describe your character's arena, and their relationship with the Capitol since.

Past victor AU: What district is your character from? How do they feel about home?

Hunger Games AU and OC: What is your reasoning for the capitol to include your canon doppelganger if they app in? What district is your character from? How do they feel about home?
